Bio

Mr. Pedersen began his love for music at Anderson High School in Austin, Texas, under the direction of band directors Mr. Mike Williamson and Mr. Ryan Zysk. In the fall of 2005, he attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas where he majored in music education and earned a Bachelors of Music. There, he was a member of the Crusader Marching Band, Black Shirt Cru Band, the UMHB Wind Ensemble conducted by Mr. James Whitis, and the UMHB Jazz Band led by Mr. Nils Landsberg. Jonathan also studied trumpet privately under Dr. Timothy Shaffer and Mark Nalley, and conducting under Dr. Stephen Crawford.

In the fall of 2010, Jonathan began teaching career in Austin at Eastside Memorial High School as Assistant Director of Bands, and Andrews Elementary and Pecan Springs Elementary as Director of Bands. In the fall of 2011 he joined the Lanier High School Band staff as Assistant Director of Bands, where he is committed to help grow and nurture the award winning band program in both areas of marching and concert performance.

Mr. Pedersen conducts the Symphonic Band and Beginning Band and assists with the Marching Band.

He is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, and the National Association of Music Education.
